Sewage System in Erbil

According to estimates by UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency), around 70 percent of Iraqis lack access to an adequate drinking water supply, and 80 percent have to cope without functioning sanitation facilities. These issues are also present in the city of Erbil in autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan, where a new sewage system is urgently needed. The engineering firm Vössing GmbH was commissioned to design a sewage network according to European standards.

User feedback

“A total of more than 1,200 kilometers of sewer pipelines were planned. The basis for the geometric design of all pipelines, as well as their hydraulic calculations, was provided by digital terrain models from VESTRA. Even large data volumes posed no issues for the AKG system.”
